Who am I?
Dr. Zack Venios PT, B.S., CPT
Doctor of Physical Therapy, Bachelor of Exercise Science, Certified Personal Trainer
My name is Zack Venios and I am a licensed physical therapist, certified personal trainer, and professional natural bodybuilder.
I began my journey in the gym when I was 13 years old after one opened up within biking distance from my childhood home. After stumbling upon a few muscle magazines and experiencing my first bout of newbie gains, I was hooked. It didn’t matter if I had just finished a 12-hour landscaping shift or a two-a-day football practice; I was lifting that day.
My curiosity for training and nutrition matured as I went off to college to pursue a bachelor’s in exercise science, and eventually a doctorate in physical therapy. I wanted to know all the intricacies of the human body and how certain processes impact different objectives in training and rehab.
I eventually started personal training during physical therapy school and quickly learned how well the two fields complement each other. I saw that no matter the age, injury history, or past experiences, everyone can train to a high degree when given the right tools. On the rehab side, I learned that patients are not fragile just because they are experiencing pain and that they can handle much more than many clinicians give them credit for. It was also during this process that I realized my true passion in life: people.
My meaning comes from empowering others, challenging them to think from different angles, and ultimately helping them find their path to progress in and out of the gym. Whether I am functioning as a clinician, coach, or trainer, this is the driving factor behind my actions.
I find that one of the biggest limiters in someone’s ability to progress in life is the fear of failing. This keeps people in a state of inaction. In reality, failing is how we truly learn the lessons that set us up for success. Just try not to make the same mistake twice. I’ll finish this mini-biography with one of my favorite quotes:
“Winners lose much more often than losers. So if you keep losing but you're still trying, keep it up!” You're on the right track.” - Matthew Keith Groves
